Experiential Learning

Students at Villanova Law School select from a rich variety of opportunities to learn through experience. Law students earn credit in a wide range of clinics and externships while applying the skills they learn in class. They represent clients, providing legal counsel under the supervision of experienced attorneys through volunteer opportunities such as Lawyering Together, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, and the Homeless Advocacy Project Adopt-A-Shelter Program, to name a few. Many participate in national competitions such as the Client Counseling Competition, Trial Advocacy Competitions, and a number of moot court competitions in which members of the Moot Court Board represent Villanova Law School. Students also go into neighborhoods and schools with "street law" programs sponsored by clinics and pro bono groups. Several law school classes include service learning components, offering additional opportunities to apply classroom knowledge to real world situations. A Villanova Law School education embodies the seamless unity of theory and practice through this emphasis on experiential learning.
