As a Judge in the Court of Common Pleas, Judge Lewis initiated Barristers’ Options for Opportunities to provide role models for youngsters facing delinquency proceedings at the Philadelphia Youth Study Center. Her message to young people: “You should not let anyone else –– not other kids in the neighborhood, not the media –– define for you who you will become.”
Until her election as Administrative Judge and subsequent appointment to the Trial Division, First Judicial District in Philadelphia, Lewis served in the City Solicitor’s Office as counsel for the Philadelphia Council for Community Advancement, with a special interest in the development and management of low- and moderate-income housing.
