Program Funds

Clinical Program Fund

Clinics offer students the opportunity to represent real clients with real legal issues. Students are exposed to the practice of law and reflect on the interactions between practice and theory and on the role of the lawyer in society. This fund provides support for Villanova Law's five current programs: the Civil Justice Clinic; the Clinic for Asylum, Refugee and Emigrant Services (CARES); the Farmworkers Legal Aid Clinic; the Federal Tax Clinic; and the Juvenile Justice Clinic.

Garbarino Client Counseling Competition Fund

Named in honor of the Competition’s founder, former Associate Dean Robert P. Garbarino ’56, this fund subsidizes the travel and other costs of this annual competition.

Giannella Memorial Lecture Fund

The Giannella Memorial Lecture series brings distinguished scholars to the Law School. A annual lecture series of this type is needed not only to enrich the intellectual life of VLS, but to expose renowned visitors to the excellence of our faculty and students. The lecture series is named in honor of the late Professor Donald Giannella, who was one of our most beloved faculty in the 1960s and early 1970s.

Moot Court Board Fund

VLS has a great tradition of winning moot court teams. They bring awards and championships back to the Law School from around the country. While our students travel frugally, travel costs are always increasing, and we want our students to be able to compete in the most prestigious competitions around the country and, indeed, the world. Income from this endowed fund enables them to do so.

Reimel Competition Fund

The Reimel Competition remains one of the most prestigious events at VLS, and one that all competitors value highly. This elaborate, year-long competition generates considerable costs for the Law School that would be met partially by the income from an endowment.

Villanova Environmental Law Journal Fund

The VELJ, which covers cutting-edge issues in environmental law, needs endowment support for its symposium and the two issues it produces every year.

Villanova Law Review Fund

The cost of producing academic law reviews increases every year, and subscription revenues never cover more than a small fraction of the cost. Endowment income is needed to cover printing and related costs, as well as the expenses generated by the annual law review symposium. The fund will also be used in the future to generate scholarships for Law Review editors.

Villanova Sports & Entertainment Law Journal Fund

This endowed fund is named in honor of former Associate Dean Garbarino, who founded this distinctive journal. The Fund subsidizes the journal’s symposium and annual two issues.
