Reimel Judging

Dear Villanova School of Law Alumni:

With the start of the new school year rapidly approaching, we are turning our attention to the upcoming Forty-Ninth Annual Theodore L. Reimel Moot Court Competition. Last year, the Reimel Competition was a tremendous success, due in great part to the many alumni who volunteered their time and experience by participating as judges. We are asking once again for your support.

We are currently seeking alumni to judge the first and second rounds of the Competition, which will begin the first week in October.  If you are available to serve as a judge, please complete the online interest form and submit it by August 19, 2008.

Upon being notified of your interest, a Moot Court Board member will schedule you for an argument. All of the arguments will be held on week nights (Monday through Friday), with the early arguments beginning at 7:00 p.m. and late arguments beginning at 9:00 p.m. (Saturday arguments may be necessary depending on the number of teams that register this year. Please indicate on the attached form if you are willing to judge a Saturday argument.) If you have any special requests, i.e. serving with a particular alumnus or on a particular day or time, please note this information on the form, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

In addition, unforeseen circumstances arise from the cancellation of judges. We are especially appreciative of those alumni who volunteer to serve as emergency judges. If you believe you might be able to judge an argument on short notice, please note this on the form as well.

This year’s Reimel Competition promises to be exciting, involving a current legal issue authored by Professor Ellen Wertheimer. As a result of alumni assistance, Villanova has developed an outstanding Moot Court program. We thank you for volunteering your time and hope that we can count on your support this year.

Sincerely,

Trevor Davies
