March 21, 2007 - Alumni Association Awards Dinner

On Wednesday, March 21, 2007 four Alumni Association awards were presented at the Union League of Philadelphia. The Villanova Law Alumni Association Award for Excellence was presented by Dean Mark Sargent to The Honorable Marjorie O. Rendell '73. The Gerald Abraham Alumni Association Award for Service to Villanova Law School was presented by Dorothy Malloy, Vice President and General Counsel, Villanova University to Doris DelTosto Brogan '81. Doris Brogan serves as the VLS Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law. the Donald W. Dowd Alumni Association Award for Public Service was presented by Matthew Perks '82, to John P. Delaney, Jr. '81, Deputy District Attorney, Philadelphia District Attorneys Office.

The Faculty Service Awards were also presented to John M. Hyson, Professor of Law, and Michael Mulroney, Director of Graduate Tax Program and Professor of Law.


April 4, 2007 - New England Chapter Reception

The VLAA New England Capter hosted alumni and friends at the Harvard Club of Boston. Please visit the events calendar for upcoming regional programs.


April 15, 2007 - VLAA Third Year Brunch, Honoring the Class of 2007

The Alumni Association celebrated the upcoming May Commencement and welcomed our newest members at this annual gathering for the graduating class. Mass was celebrated by Rev. John T. Denny, O.S.A. and then a brunch reception was held at the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, PA. Highlights included the keynote address delivered by Jeff Moorad, Esq. '81, and the unveiling of the Class of 2007 composite.

The Third Year Brunch Honoring the Class of 2008 will be held on Sunday, April 6.


August 1, 2007 - VLS Happy Hour

On Wednesday, August 1, 2007 the Villanova Law Alumni Association sponsored a Happy Hour at the Public House in Center City, Philadelphia, over 80 alumni, students and friends participated in this great networking event. Mark you calendars for Wednesday, November 7, 2007 for the next Public House networking event.


November 18, 2007 - VLAA DE Chapter Community Service Project

On Sunday, November 18, 2007 the Villanova Law Alumni Association's Delaware Chapter volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Wilmington, DE. Several members of the chapter prepared dinner for the seventy residents staying at the Ronald McDonald House while their children and siblings received medical treatment at the nearby Delaware Hospitals.

March 13, 2008 - Alumni Association Awards Dinner

On Wednesday, March 13, 2003 three Alumni Association awards were presented at the Union League of Philadelphia. The St. Thomas of Villanova Award for Pro Bono Service was presented by Dean Mark Sargent to J. Gordon Cooney, Jr. Esq. ’84 The Gerald Abraham Alumni Association Award for Service to Villanova Law School was presented to James L. McHugh, Esq. ’62. The Donald W. Dowd Alumni Association Award for Public Service was presented to Mark S. Schwartz ’74.


April 13, 2008 - VLAA Third Year Brunch, Honoring the Class of 2008

On Sunday, April 13, 2008 the Villanova Law Alumni Association hosted the Class of 2008 at the Philadelphia Country Club. James McCartney, O.S.A. presided over Mass held at the Law School. Highlights include, the keynote speech given by Nina M. Gussack, Esq. ’79. Nina is currently the first female chair of Pepper Hamilton LLP.  The Alumni Association honored Jordan Hyatt ’08 with the Law Alumni Award for Pro Bono Service. Elizabeth Dunn, Director of Pro Bono Programs, presented 32 students with the Dorothy Day Awards for Pro Bono Service.


April 16, 2008 - Minority Student Association Dinner

On Wednesday, April 16, 2008, the members of  the Black Law Students Association, Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, Latin American Law Students Association and the Villanova Law Alumni Association Minority Alumni Society gathered in the cafeteria for a formal dinner in celebration of their accomplishments for the 2007-2008 academic year. The keynote speaker was Jose Contreras ’99. Jose currently serves as an Assistant District Attorney in the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office in New York. The Master of Ceremonies was Derek Rolo ’08, a former member of LALSA.
