Spotlight

On June 1, 2007, Thomas G. Jackson, a member of the Class of 1991, became the 42nd president of the Villanova Law Alumni Association. Mr. Jackson is the Association's first African American president. Currently he serves as assistant general counsel, assistant secretary and director of compliance for Glatfelter, Co., a specialty paper company based in York, Pennsylvania that employs more than 3,000 people globally. Minority Alumni Society Program Receives CASE Award

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has named the Villanova Law Minority Alumni Society Why Diversity Matters program as a grand gold medal winner of its 2007 Circle of Excellence Awards Program. In addition to being named the best overall program in the Alumni Relations category, the program also received gold medals in both the new programs and diversity programs categories. The award will be presented at CASE’s Annual Leadership Summit in Chicago in July. Learn more.

New VLAA Leaders Named

The VLAA Board of Advisors recently named distinguished alumni to serve in leadership positions for the 2007-2008 Year. The Officers include Richard A. DeMichele ’95 as president-elect, Jennifer L. Bragg ’87 as first vice president, John R. Bryck ’99 as second vice president, and Bethann R. Naples ’94 as third vice president. Thomas M. Gallagher ’89 now serves as the immediate past president. New board members include Karen C. Buck ’87, Hon. Kevin J. Carey ’79, Thomas O. Fitzpatrick ’04, as well as the new presidents of the Association’s affiliated organizations, including Bryant D. Lim ’96 of the Minority Alumni Society, George R. Tsakataras ’96 of the Delaware Alumni Chapter, and David L. Williams ’73 of the DC/MD/VA Alumni Chapter. Learn more.
